Jandro (Han-Dro)

Raised in Menlo Park (mid-peninsula), Jandro's (Alex Rojas)
percussion playing has recently been noticed in the electronic/house music scene in the Bay Area. Self-taught by many hours of playing with fellow hand percussionists on the streets of down town Palo Alto & Stanford campus, he has a unique flow that compliment House beats.

With musical roots in an eclectic collection of records that range from Jazz, Afro-Cuban Jazz, Funk, Alternative Rock, Trip-Hop & Electronica, Jandro has brought a distinctive live sound to electronic music. Jandro first started playing percussions with friends in a Funk, Hip-Hop, Jazz band. Being introduced to electronic music in the early 90's underground Bay Area rave culture, Jandro experimented by adding percussion elements to a primarily all-electronic sound. Later he played to funky progressive house music with his brother DJ O'Henry (6 Degrees) adding a new layer of sound and a live music edge. By using just a pair bongos or a small arsenal of drums, rattles, bells, & exotic percussion instruments Jandro makes a unique addition to DJ sets. With inspiration from many talented DJ's like Chris & Chris (Funk Divas), Melyss (Sister SF, Witches Brew), Ryel K, (Pink Mammoth), Greg Raye (CMAW), Dilema Funk Doc., Brett Starr (Thump Radio), & Percussion SF DJ's Mike Giannini & Sunil Kapadia his intuitive form of playing has become a sought after influence to electronic music.

Always looking forward, we can expect to see Jandro playing a new instrument or rhythm to incorporate in his playing style. When asked what type of music he most likes to play to, his response was, "Anything that gives me enough space to expand my playing while still sounding as if I'm a part of the track".
